The ‘Dédalo’ Expeditionary Group

16/12/2025 Twitter English edition of Revista Española de Defensa N.20

The Dédalo Expeditionary Combat Group, which has demonstrated Spain's naval power and our commitment to deterrence and the defense of the Alliance in its three deployments in 2025, is the cover story of issue 20 of the English edition of the Revista Española de Defensa. It also highlights the assumption of command of the Eurocorps by Lieutenant General Aroldo Lázaro in Strasbourg.

The magazine reports on the Lone Paratrooper exercise, in which paratroopers from Spain and other countries practiced high-altitude jumps using oxygen. It also covers the recent visit of an OSCE delegation to units in the Canary Islands to conduct an inspection of the Vienna Document.

Two interviews are included: one with Brigadier General Guillermo García Ferrer, Director of Management at NATO's Joint Headquarters Brunssum (JFCBS), and another with Lieutenant Colonel Rafael Ichaso, commander of the Stinga air detachment, the first that Spain has deployed to Iceland to protect NATO airspace on the northern flank.

The Analysis section is dedicated to two anniversaries: the 80th anniversary of the UN and the 40th anniversary of Spain's entry into what were then the European Communities on January 1, 1986. Another article analyzes the geopolitics of energy resources for defense.

The launch of SpainSat NG II, which will provide secure communications for our Armed Forces, the EU, and NATO, is also a topic of interest in this issue, which concludes with the presentation at the Air Museum of the Centenary of the Great Flights of Spanish Aviation.
